Hot from attending Sydney Fashion Week – where JessB‘s elevated street style was highlighted in Elle, Pedestrian and LifeWithoutAndy – today Aotearoa’s JessB returns with the release of her new single ‘Commando‘ via Say Less and Warner Music Australia.

Written in Amsterdam and produced by M.O.W Music, ‘Commando’ explores JessB’s need to have fun after being in a constant state of writing more emotional lyrics on other songs.

JessB shares: “During the week I was there in the studio, the writing that I was doing all felt like it was more ‘serious’ in terms of lyrical content, so this was just a chance for me to have some fun.  Half Queen was in the studio with me when this song was created- she actually came up with a couple of lines in the song which was fun!”

JessB will release her highly awaited debut album Feels Like Home – via Say Less and Warner Music Australia, on July 5th.

Speaking on her upcoming debut album JessB said: ““Feels Like Home is a marker in my journey that has been and is still evolving. Navigating a career in music, whilst also navigating finding identity & self simultaneously.  One could not have expanded without the other. For me, the music that has been created over the last 4 years for this album is a direct reflection of the changing sounds of my life. It has been a process of finding a home in how I see myself & how I choose to show up in the world.”

The 12 track album embodies the essence of being where the heart is and features previous releases – ‘Moment’ feat. Kranium, ‘Ring Ring’ feat.Gold Fang, Hold Me Down and triple j’s latest Full Add ‘Come Find Me’. For the album, JessB recruited a list of stellar producers including Brandon Jonak, IAMMXO, MOW Music, Open Till L8 and TUZI.

As one of Aotearoa’s most influential artists, JessB has collaborated with the likes of Saweetie, Doja Cat, G Flip and Baker Boy. Her imposing and stylistic form has accumulated over 20 million streams across her impressive catalogue and praise from music and culture tastemakers Afropunk, Acclaim, NME, Sniffers and VICE just to name a few. JessB has also delivered dynamic live shows at major festivals including SXSW, The Great Escape, Listen Out and Laneway and has shared the stage with internationally renowned artists including Stormzy, Kehlani and Genesis Owusu.

With her debut album set to drop in the coming weeks, there is more JessB to come in 2024.
